The Hunt

Beginning the Close.

Wow — it’s been March since my last blog. Incredible. Between building that “other” business and the run up to competing in the 2011 Escape from Alcatraz in San Fransisco (if you’re thinking about it do it! It’s amazing!) amongst other things here and there, the time has slipped on by. Courses have been selling out — and the students — all the classes — have just had so much amazing energy. It’s been a privilege to teach folks from all around the world. This summer has seen two sold out Photographers’ London courses at Central Saint Martins and next week that creative juice course Art of the Snapshot begins and I am excited about what work will be created. I’ve developed a few new workshop exercises which will get the wheels turning and challenge the senses so I look forward seeing those results.

But there is also a bit of history dripping away at the moment as we come down to the final weeks at that gorgeous old campus building on Southampton Row. Last week I watched the building’s insides be removed box by box, door by door, skip by skip. I, along with many other grads and lecturers will miss this old place. The ghosts and history that linger in the too hot classrooms in summers, the too noisy streets during workshops, and the too many stairs to carry all the equipment nights. But this was a home, and I for one have enjoyed it’s uncompromising edge.

I’ll be trying to post a few piccies as my week at Southampton moves through but for now here are some recent shots of the beginning of the close.
